how do you feed fish cucumber or zucchini?

December 19th, 2009 | by admin |

do you just dump a slice in?
do you boil the slice?
how do you stop it from floating?
any other things i should know?
why do the seed need to be taken out?

All you have to do is slice it length wise, peel the skin and what I do is place it under a couple of river rocks I have in the tank. You don’t have to boil it. Removing the peel and rinsing it is all you have to do.

Chop off the ends, cut it in half vertically, scoop the seeds out, and put it in the tank. It will probably float, so I stick it onto a metal fork and put it in.

take a slice. par boil it in a pot. maybe 30sec to a min so its nice an soft. You can hold it down with one of those clownfish clips at the pet store or what I do is take a shish kaboob stick and hold it in the water for them to eat
~oh yeah take the seeds out
~kyrotonia, A LOT of tropical fish are ominvores meaning they eat vegetables too.

because your fish can accidently swallow them. also they can actually grow underwater and be harmful for your fish

You can just put a slice in. Don’t cook them, just put them in raw. It will float around the tank and the fish will have to chase it though. They sell veggie clips at the pet shop you suction cup to the side of the tank and it holds the slice.

If you boil the slice for about thirty seconds and then ice it briefly, it will sink right down. Make sure it is back to room temp before putting it in the tank. If you don’t want it on the very bottom, just get a veggie clip from the pet store and use that to hold it at the desired level. Fish will generally not eat the rind, so peel that out. They will eat Zucchini’s seeds, so there is no need to take that out. It is very unusual for them to eat a Cucumber’s seeds, though, so taking them out will spare you having to hunt them down later so they don’t deteriorate in your tank. I recommend Zucchini over Cucumber, because it is more nutritious. Take any uneaten remains out after 12 hours. It may take a couple of feedings for them to realize its food, so don’t be discouraged.
