How do I handle constant slice shots when playing tennis?
August 5th, 2009 | by admin |I am playing in a tennis tournament this weekend, and a lady I have played and lost to, is going to be competing with me again. She is a person that likes to slice all of her shots back. I am only capable of some topspin and hitting hard and flat. Is there tips how I can handle these slices, or any way I can hit the ball so that she is less capable of slicing the ball?
When You Get A Slice Backhand to Your Backhand
You Hit: A Topspin to Your Opponent’s Backhand
Just roll over the ball since it’s hard to be aggressive on this shot and change the ball’s direction.
In general, never return a slice with a slice – you’ll turn your opponent’s defensive shot into one of your own, and play will get frustratingly chippy, says Art Coleman, head pro at Oakley Country Club in Belmont, Mass.
One other move is as soon as you see your opponent’s racquet open up for the slice, step into the court, get around the ball and hit an inside out forehand.

There is no way she cannot slice it unless you pull her out wide. generally you should return a slice with your own slice. Just outlast your opponent and you’ll do fine.

Well, there are 1 of 2 things that you can do to handle those. You can slice it back, generally most people don’t do this( I don’t myself) but it can throw the other person off guard and you can run into net and put the ball away. Or the second thing,( which I do) is you can hit a heavy topspin ball back and then come in. The reason why I say come in to net is because you don’t want to do play the point from the baseline on and on, you want to take charge and be the dictator of play. Hope this helps! Good Luck!

get to the net asap and put the ball away (assuming she slices it again), its hard to be aggressive with a slice so you should have an easy put away. also dont become impatient.
