Need a new driver. Slice and control problems, looking for driver to help fix it.?
November 24th, 2009 | by admin |I am looking to purchase a new driver for my set. Here’s some info that may help you help me:
Age: 19
Height: 6′-1"
Weight: 200
Build: Fit, very strong, tennis player
Typical driver distance (using 90% power): 200-210yd
Typical 7 iron distance: 150yd
Irons: Ping Eye 2
Woods: Callaway Big Bertha War Bird 2, graphite shafts, 10 degree driver
I’ve been playing golf for most of my life, but don’t get to play but about once per month. I have a problem with shots off the tee where I have to use a good bit of power. When I need to use power, all my control goes out the window and I end up hitting it to the right (about 25 degrees off center) or slicing the heck out of it. And because the War Bird’s face is so small I mis-hit the ball often. I tried my friend’s Ping g10 and hit beautiful long straight shots. If I hit my War Birds at 50% power, I get the same effect but it only goes 175 yds.
I want a driver that will help me hit straighter and further while using less power. Price range is $200 or less. Thinking about the Callaway FT-5 or FT-i, any other suggestions?
And is Maxfli a good club brand? I know they make good balls, but their drivers are $100 less but I can’t figure out why.
Thanks!
Callaway FTI Driver draw biases 10.5 degree with a Fujikura speeder stiff flex. When I demo’d this club it was very hard to slice.
Sounds like your strong enough to use a stiff shaft. This club would be a great help. Check out some of the other reviews , you might find something you like better.
