How can I fix my golf swing please?
November 13th, 2009 | by admin |I am having some real trouble with my swing. Sometimes I slice, sometimes I hook, all in all I am just not consistent at all. I need to know how to fix my golf swing so I can get my golf game back on the right track. I used to shoot in the mid 80s, but now I am luckly if I break 100. Any help would be much appreciated!
It sounds like you are having a serious problem in consistency, since you are asking the question "how can I fix my golf swing?" Well honestly, I would say that you probably need to go back to square one and concentrate on a whole new swing philosophy. The reason I say this is because your head is in the wrong place. I am going to give you a few tips to work on.
1. Start with your grip, the answer to the question how can I fix my golf swing starts with the grip. It is your only connection to the club, so make sure your grip is in a neutral position, and you have light grip pressure.
2. Focus on the tempo of your golf swing. Tempo is one of the most overlooked aspects of the golf swing, yet it is one of the most important. Focusing on a smooth swing will certainly get you back to playing better golf.
This really helped me out a lot when I was struggling with my game recently:

There are a couple of different things you can do. First thing is look for a local pro shop or golf course that has a golf pro that offers lessons, could get expensive though. Also a great place would be go to a driving range to work on your swing. Another thing and what helped me the most is I bought the video lessons that David Leadbetter offers which was a great resource for me. And last but not least practice, practice, practice. I used to shoot in the 100’s every time I would step on to a golf course but now i’m in the 80’s. Hope this helps.

The name of the disc that helped me the most is David Leadbetter – From Beginner to Winner, if you go to wal-mart the one here has them in the discount rack so you may find it there.

Joshua, ask yourself if when you address the ball you intend to kill it every time. Most beginners do and find that they overcompensate their swing. Then when you set the ball in position is your left arm straight, shoulders square, and back swing very slow. If not then you are off center and the club blade will not hit the ball flat. Last try a half swing, three quarter swing and then full swing and see if the ball is being sliced or hooked. Practice these steps until you find a groove that works for your body.

If you were able to shoot a decent score and now flounder on the course, take a series of lessons from the golf professional. Many of us who learned the game while in the caddy ranks( pre WW II )learned and understood our swings. For the most part we have been able to do our own fixing when things have gone haywire.
