help, massive slice on the drive?
February 15th, 2010 | by admin |ok, so i’ve watched video’s, and tried the head cover under the armpit thing, but i cannot seem to fix my slice. i am a right hander and i always end up way off to the right of my target, but this is the weird thing, it’s only when im driving, when i’m chipping there is no prob. any tips or tricks on how to help fix it, or if someone could go through the "perfect" golf stance for me (like what foot the ball should be closer to, how far our you should stretch your arms…etc), cuz i believe that may be a contributing factor, that’d be much appreciated.
your probably coming over the top of it, try keeping your right foot down as long as possible

The slice is coming across the ball from out side in. Not squaring the face at impact. Try this, stand in a comfortable distance from the ball. Not too close or far. Swing the club inside out. Is the swing path. Also drop your back foot a bit, this will help you to draw it. Swing easy. Believe it or not. Slice is one of the easiest thing to fix. Hope that helps.

I’ve myself struggled a little with a fade creeping back into my swing. I just bought a new driver and notice i was swinging too steep. I’ve begun to focus on trying to keep my down swing more rounded instead of up and down. By a more rounded downswing it gives me the opportunity to square the face before impact. Think wide and slow back swing and a wide downswing. Try it on the range because doing this will cause you to hit the first few balls to be blocked left normally. If I’m trying to hit a draw I take a wider stance, with my right foot a little behind my left to promote an inside back swing and think round. If I’m trying to fade I take a narrow stance with the right foot in front of the left a bit. I know these things work for me hopefully some of this can help you.

I had the same problem. I suggest you get a firmer shaft (it worked for me). Hope this will help!

Get some lessons, reading about fixes won’t help. Catch the bad habits before they get too bad. Maybe completely reshaping your setup, back swing, downswing, and impact is what you need. The golf swing is just a massive chain reaction. When one thing is out of whack, you won’t get what you need.

dont listen to nathan that will cause more problems.
just try to close your clubface when you make contact with that ball.
make sure your swing plane starts around your body and you make a full turn. dont sway either turn on your spine
