Why does the Fillet o Fish at Mcdonalds come with half a cheese slice?

I think they don’t want the cheese to over power the taste of the light flakey fish…1/2 slice is enough.

Simply $$$.
Also consider the new "double hamburger with cheese". Used to be the double-cheeseburger was $0.99, now it costs $1.29. Now the "dh w/cheese" is $0.99. Saving costs.
It’s all about money.
