Would it be ok to feed my dog a whole carrot and an apple slice?

January 15th, 2010 | by admin |

Or should I only give her one of those a day. She’s a year old Boxer who loves her carrots, but has never had an apple, only home made applesauce cookies. Would it be too much to feed her both?

She’II be fine with both, one carrot and one apple slice isn’t going to upset her stomach.
Just make sure to take out the core and the pips, they are toxic to dogs.

You can feed her fruits just don’t giver her grapes. Grapes can be harmful to dogs. Don’t overdo it though.

It is okay to feed her carrots and apples in the same day. Jusy don’t give her too much of either or both, as it can cause diarhhea – just as it would in humans if you ate too much fruit and veggies in one sitting. Try a carrot as an am snack, and a 1/2 small apple with dinner, or something like that.
My dogs like KONGs stuffed with shreded carrots or diced apples mix with peanut butter, they get one a day, or two if they’re lucky. ;)

There’s a lot of info on what dogs can and can’t eat, someone mentioned no grapes, but someone also said their dog likes onions, but these are on the banned list too I’m afraid.

Have a read through and see what else is on there.

Take out the core and pips and it’s fine. My dogs LOVE frozen carrots and apple slices in the summer heat!

no it should be ok, with any new food give a small amount and wait. if all is well a regular diet with fresh food, in my opinion , is a good thing….
try apple with some peanut butter, my girl loves it.

always remove apple seeds, they are toxic.
