How do you soften an apple in the microwave?

November 24th, 2009 | by admin |

I want to give my 8mo some apple slices but I can’t get them soft enough. She has no teeth so I need it to be pretty soft.

I make baked apples in the microwave all the time. I just core them, wrap in plastic wrap and cook for 1 minute. You don’t need any water or anything This would be too mushy for your baby, so maybe try 30 seconds. Obviously you would have to peel it, and then you can cut it into slices when it cools.

Put an inch or two of water in a bowl and then put the slices in the water, then put the bowl in the microwave. This should steam them and make them a bit softer to gum up.

Slice it up dip it in hot water. And put it in the microwave for 1 min. And then let it set for a while. Take a bite of it, see if its soft. And if it isn’t you can mush it up or buy apple baby food at the store near you. Hope that helped. P.S. I know because of experience.
